Captain Matt Culbreath

Captain Matt Culbreath began his career in 1985 as a Reserve Officer. In September 1988, he became a full-time officer assigned to the Uniform Patrol Unit. During that time, he handled day-to-day calls for service along with the enforcement of traffic regulations. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and then to Patrol Lieutenant before being promoted to his current rank as the Commander for the Uniform Patrol Unit in 2006. When the Investigations and Support Services units were combined, Captain Culbreath was transferred to command these functions for the department.

In his current role; Captain Culbreath coordinates the Investigative Unit, Communications and Detention, Crime Scene and Evidence, Records Services, Cmmunity Outreach, and Victim's Services. Along with these functions, Captain Culbreath works alongside the City’s Information Technology Department to assist in maintaining the many pieces of information technology utilized by the department.

Captain Culbreath is a Clemson native with local area law enforcement and military siblings.
